The Kulturfonds foundation of ProLitteris awards the annual ProLitteris Prize and supports activities in the fields of literature and art (text and image). Projects relating to copyright and to the framework conditions for creativity are the main focus. Contributions to individual persons or for individual works are excluded.
Applications can be submitted by organizations, institutions and groups that are planning a project in the field of literature or visual arts, in particular if there is a connection to copyright or to the management of rights. The information must be submitted in full and on time. The decision of the foundation board will be communicated in writing.

Since 2012, the Kulturfonds foundation has been awarding the ProLitteris Prize for outstanding achievements in literature and art. The prize is awarded alternately for literature, visual arts and photography, journalism and publishing.
An independent jury, which is newly composed each year and consists of personalities from the relevant field, selects the recipient of the main prize. The selected person then determines the recipient of the advancement prize.
The amount of the main prize is CHF 40'000 and that of the advancement prize is CHF 10'000.
Applications for the ProLitteris Prize are excluded.
The life's work of Hans Stutz shows how historical research, journalistic accuracy and a democratic attitude come together. Stutz has devoted himself to topics that were often reluctantly addressed in public: right-wing extremist organizations and structures, racist incidents and ideologies hostile to democracy. With Hans Stutz, the jury honors a journalist who has pursued uncomfortable topics over decades, even in the face of personal threats and professional disadvantages, and who understands his work as a defense of democracy and human rights.

The main purpose of ProLitteris is the collection and distribution of royalties as well as the granting of licenses for certain uses. As an ancillary activity, the Kulturfonds foundation of ProLitteris supports projects and awards the annual ProLitteris Prize.
The foundation is financed by an earmarked share of 1% of the Swiss income of ProLitteris.
The foundation board of the Kulturfonds is composed of members of the supervisory board of ProLitteris: Fabio Casagrande, Claude Darbellay, Regine Helbling and Thomas Kramer. Managing director is Philip Kübler.
The foundation supervisory authority of the Canton of Zurich supervises the Kulturfonds.
