Reproduction of works of art

Paintings or sculptures are reproduced in books, on the Internet and in other forms. Individuals and organizations that use works of art can contact ProLitteris. We represent the rights of around 150,000 international artists.

Licensing works of art

Legally compliant use of works of art

Do you use of art? When artists and legal successors transfer their rights to ProLitteris, we license the use of their works. We carry out this activity voluntarily and not on the basis of a statutory mandate. We pass on the royalties paid by users, after deducting administrative costs and a contribution for social and cultural purposes, to the rights holders. The basis for this is the Art tariff and the distribution rules. Through collective licensing we simplify rights management where otherwise all rights holders would have to grant licenses individually.

Our offer covers works of visual art and art photography. These include, for example, paintings, drawings, illustrations, caricatures, cartoons, sculptures, three-dimensional works and artistic photographs. Like all copyright-protected works, these may only be used and reproduced with the permission of the rights holders.

Artist search

Find an artist

For the worldwide search for artists whose image rights are managed by ProLitteris, the directories of our sister societies are available to you.

If the person you are looking for is listed in one of the two directories, you do not need to check the other directory as well.

Are you unsure whether the works of an artist are part of the ProLitteris repertoire? The Team Art will be happy to help you.
